Selleys
Since 1939, Selleys has made the adhesives, sealants and fillers Australians reach for when something needs fixing, sealing or sticking. If It's Selleys It Works.
Executive summary
Selleys was founded in 1939 by Martin Selley, who arrived from Germany with a patented putty formula and one hundred pounds. From a rented terrace in Sydney's Surry Hills, the business grew into the maker of some of the country's most recognised home-repair products: Liquid Nails, No More Gaps, Aquadhere, Spakfilla, All Clear and Knead It.
Selleys operates today as a division of DuluxGroup (Australia) Pty Ltd, part of Nippon Paint Holdings since 2019. DuluxGroup describes the brand simply: "Since 1939, Selleys has grown through continual innovation to be the leading choice in sealants, adhesives and fillers."
That standing is independently measured. In the 2024 Reader's Digest Trusted Brands awards Selleys was named most trusted brand in two categories — Glues & Construction Adhesives, and Sealants & Fillers — and ranked the 15th most trusted brand in Australia overall, the sixth consecutive year the brand has been recognised.
This directory is a structured reference to the Selleys range: around 370 pages across nine categories, with product guides drawn from manufacturer documentation including Safety Data Sheets. Use the navigation to browse by category, or search for a product by name.

Founding story
Martin Selley arrived in Australia in 1939, having left Germany before the Second World War carrying a patented formula for putty and one hundred pounds. That same year he established the business — originally Selleys Chemical Company — in a rented terrace in Surry Hills, Sydney. The first products were Selleys Metallic Cement and Selleys Unifix.
By 1959 the range was growing fast as Australians embraced do-it-yourself home repair, an era in which Selleys launched the Selleys Handyman Bar and expanded into adhesives, sealants and decorator products. The range later grew to include the household names the brand is known for today.

Where to buy
Selleys products are sold nationally through Australia's major hardware retailers and independents — Bunnings, Mitre 10, Home Hardware, and independent hardware stores. The official store locator at selleys.com.au/find-a-store lists stockists by location.
This directory does not sell products or list prices. For pricing and availability, check with the retailers above.
Who Selleys serves
DIY and home maintenance. Most of the range is designed for household repair without specialist skills — gap filling before painting, resealing a shower, gluing timber, repairing walls. Product guides here spell out surface preparation, application and cure times.
Trade professionals. The Pro Trade line covers trade-volume sealants and construction adhesives, and products such as fire-rated sealants are relevant to compliance-driven commercial work. Guides carry the technical data trades need: movement capability, service temperatures, substrate limitations, and standards references where the manufacturer publishes them.
Safety information
Selleys products are chemical formulations, and this directory treats their safety data as first-class content. Product guides carry hazard classifications, first-aid measures and handling guidance drawn from the manufacturer's Safety Data Sheets.
Two numbers matter in an emergency:
- Poisons Information Centre — medical advice on poisoning. Australia 13 11 26 · New Zealand 0800 764 766
- DuluxGroup 24-hour emergency line — chemical incidents. Australia 1800 220 770 · New Zealand 0800 220 770
Always read the label and Safety Data Sheet of the physical product before use. Formulations and classifications can change, and the SDS current at the time of purchase governs.
International presence
Selleys is an Australian brand with export markets including New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, the Philippines, South Africa and Saudi Arabia.
