Applications and Uses

Selleys Fireblock PA is suitable for a wide range of fire-rated construction applications:

  • Control joints in concrete, masonry, brick, and plasterboard
  • Penetrations and perimeter sealing in concrete, plasterboard, and aerated concrete
  • Sealing with fire collars, pillows, and dampers as part of comprehensive fire protection systems
  • Acoustic sealing between common building materials including concrete, masonry, plasterboard, fibre cement, metals, timber, and plastic
  • Internal and external applications (with appropriate weather protection measures)
  • Non-trafficable joints only

Hazard Classification and Safety

According to Safe Work Australia GHS 7 criteria, Selleys Fireblock PA is classified as:

  • Hazard Statement: H317 – May cause an allergic skin reaction
  • Classification: Sensitisation - Skin - Category 1

Important Safety Note: Prior to application of fire-rated products, consult with the project fire certifier or engineer to ensure compliance with certification requirements.

Curing and Performance

The sealant cures by water evaporation, meaning:

  • Thick skin formation typically occurs within 24 hours
  • Full cure can be expected after approximately 7 days
  • Cure rate is dependent on humidity, ambient temperature, and joint size
  • In humid or cool conditions, cure time will be extended

Storage and Shelf Life

  • Storage temperature: Below 28°C (do not store below 0°C)
  • Shelf life: 24 months from date of manufacture

Limitations

  • Not recommended for continuous submersion or below water line use
  • For exterior applications, protect from rain until the sealant develops a thick skin, then paint with quality exterior paint
  • Cannot be painted over with solvent-based paints initially; must first apply water-based paint
