Product Overview

Selleys Fix & Go Araldite 5 Minute Epoxy is a two-part epoxy adhesive system designed for bonding rigid plastics, glass, metal, china, and wood. The product consists of two components: Part A (liquid) and Part B (paste), which must be mixed together before application.

Chemical Stability

The material is thermally stable when stored and used as directed. However, conditions to avoid include elevated temperatures and sources of ignition. Under hazardous conditions, the material may decompose into oxides of carbon and nitrogen, smoke, and other toxic fumes.

Health and Safety Information

Acute Health Effects

Inhalation: Material may be an irritant to mucous membranes and respiratory tract.

Skin Contact: Contact with skin will result in severe irritation. The product is corrosive to skin and may cause skin burns. It is also a skin sensitiser, and repeated or prolonged skin contact may lead to allergic contact dermatitis.

Eye Contact: A severe eye irritant and corrosive to eyes. Contact can cause corneal burns, and contamination of eyes can result in permanent injury.

Ingestion: Swallowing can result in nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and chemical burns to the gastrointestinal tract.

Personal Protection Equipment

When handling the product, the following protective equipment is required:

• Rubber boots
• Overalls
• Gloves (Nitrile rubber gloves are suitable for intermittent contact)
• Apron
• Face shield

Always wash hands before smoking, eating, drinking, or using the toilet. Wash contaminated clothing and protective equipment before storing or reusing.

Handling and Storage Guidelines

Handling Precautions

• Avoid eye contact and skin contact
• Avoid inhalation of dust
• Ensure proper ventilation in handling areas

Storage Requirements

Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place and out of direct sunlight:

• Store away from foodstuffs
• Store away from incompatible materials (particularly oxidising agents)
• Store away from sources of heat and/or ignition
• Keep containers closed when not in use
• Check regularly for leaks
• Keep container standing upright

First Aid Measures

Inhalation: Remove victim from exposure. Remove contaminated clothing and loosen remaining clothing. Allow patient to assume the most comfortable position and keep warm. Seek medical advice if effects persist.

Skin Contact: Effects may be delayed. Immediately remove contaminated clothing and flush skin and hair with running water. Continue flushing with water until advised to stop by the Poisons Information Centre or a Doctor, or for 15 minutes, then transport to Doctor or Hospital.

Eye Contact: If in eyes, hold eyelids apart and flush the eyes continuously with running water. Continue flushing for at least 15 minutes and transport to Doctor or Hospital.

Ingestion: Rinse mouth with water. Do NOT induce vomiting. Give a glass of water to drink. Seek medical advice.

Fire Fighting Measures

Suitable Extinguishing Media:

• Alcohol resistant foam
• Dry agent (carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder)

Specific Hazards: Combustible material. On burning or decomposing, may emit toxic fumes.

Fire Fighting Advice: Fire fighters should wear self-contained breathing apparatus and suitable protective clothing if there is risk of exposure to vapour or products of combustion or decomposition.
