Acute Health Effects
Inhalation: Material may be an irritant to mucous membranes and respiratory tract.
Skin Contact: Contact with skin will result in severe irritation. The product is corrosive to skin and may cause skin burns. It is also a skin sensitiser, and repeated or prolonged skin contact may lead to allergic contact dermatitis.
Eye Contact: A severe eye irritant and corrosive to eyes. Contact can cause corneal burns, and contamination of eyes can result in permanent injury.
Ingestion: Swallowing can result in nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and chemical burns to the gastrointestinal tract.
Personal Protection Equipment
When handling the product, the following protective equipment is required:
- Rubber boots
- Overalls
- Gloves (Nitrile rubber gloves are suitable for intermittent contact)
- Apron
- Face shield
Always wash hands before smoking, eating, drinking, or using the toilet. Wash contaminated clothing and protective equipment before storing or reusing.
Handling and Storage Guidelines
Handling Precautions
- Avoid eye contact and skin contact

Storage Requirements

First Aid Measures
Inhalation: Remove victim from exposure. Remove contaminated clothing and loosen remaining clothing. Allow patient to assume the most comfortable position and keep warm. Seek medical advice if effects persist.
Skin Contact: Effects may be delayed. Immediately remove contaminated clothing and flush skin and hair with running water. Continue flushing with water until advised to stop by the Poisons Information Centre or a Doctor, or for 15 minutes, then transport to Doctor or Hospital.
Eye Contact: If in eyes, hold eyelids apart and flush the eyes continuously with running water. Continue flushing for at least 15 minutes and transport to Doctor or Hospital.
Ingestion: Rinse mouth with water. Do NOT induce vomiting. Give a glass of water to drink. Seek medical advice.
Fire Fighting Measures
Suitable Extinguishing Media:
- Alcohol resistant foam
- Dry agent (carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder)
Specific Hazards: Combustible material. On burning or decomposing, may emit toxic fumes.
Fire Fighting Advice: Fire fighters should wear self-contained breathing apparatus and suitable protective clothing if there is risk of exposure to vapour or products of combustion or decomposition.
